How to distinguish copper core transformer or aluminum core transformer?
1.In terms of size:
Aluminum coil transformers are a bit slimmer (taller), while copper coil transformers are a little chunkier. And the overall volume is larger.
2.Weight Use weight to identify:
Because aluminum has a specific gravity of 2.7, while copper has a specific gravity of 8.9. Take the weight on the transformer nameplate (usually this data will not be false). Compare the weight on copper coil transformer samples from other manufacturers.
3.Look at the trimming cuts:
10kv transformers will have nameplates, indicating the main parameters of the transformer. In the transformer model, if there is a letter L, it means that it is an aluminum core transformer, if not, it is a copper core transformer. If it is a dry-type transformer, you can also see the wire-cutting incision. If you can see that the coil incision is silver-white, it is an aluminum core, and the incision is gold, which is a copper core.
